From top to bottom, everyone in the Greenfield family brings a deep love and personal commitment to the Greenfield Senior Living mission. Matt Peponis, CEO of Greenfield, started the organization because he wanted to create something different, something better for seniors.

From his impromptu piano performances in the communities to Jonathan Barbieri’s (VP of Marketing) insatiable thirst for new and more remarkable research, the team at Greenfield is committed not only to continuously improving Greenfield as a whole, but also touching, moving and inspiring each community individually.

Mathew Peponis

CEO

Chief Executive Officer

Matt Peponis, Chairman and CEO, has been active in the long-term care industry for over 25 years. Having served as a Nursing Home Administrator, Executive Director, and Regional Support for both boutique and larger corporate senior living communities, Peponis saw many things that worked — and a few that didn’t. He began crafting a new vision for what senior living could be, one that sees the last decades of life as an equally important chapter to be lived to its fullest.

In 2002, he brought that vision to life and co-founded Greenfield Senior Living, which has since grown to encompass 20 communities that serve residents and families in six states under his leadership — each of which embodies the mission and values he laid out in the vision for Greenfield.

A classically trained pianist, Matt enjoys stopping by Greenfield communities to surprise residents with impromptu musical performances. Those personal touches, he feels, are critical to ensuring seniors at Greenfield know they’re valued and cared for at every level of the organization.

Changing industry paradigms is most effective when that change happens not only on the grassroots level, but also top-down. To that end, Matt has served on the Board of the Virginia Assisted Living Association (VALA) for ten years and as Chairman for the past eight years. He has steered the organization to its current status as the largest and leading advocacy voice for the senior living industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
